Partrishow 27th July 2008
Return to recent walks
‘Stone of Revenge’ it marks the spot where in 1135, Richard de Clare, a Norman knight (brother of the founder of Tintern Abbey) was ambushed and murdered by a band of Welshmen led by Morgan ap Owen.
A lovely walk in the Black Mountains to visit Partrishow Church, led by Keith Donovan our Chairman. The Church is situated on the southern slopes of the Gader Range with a wonderful panoramic view of the lower Grwyney Fawr. The distance was 10 miles and we had 21 participants including visitors from other ramblers group. The weather turned out probably the hottest day of the year.
