Gelligaer Ramblers

No Hill Too High
Partrishow
Sunday 25th September

26 walkers started in the rain with Alex at the front. As we went on, the weather improved which made the up hill trudge all worth while when you saw the views. We had lunch at Partrishow Church which had a lovely carved wooden screen made from Irish Oak, it is one of the finest examples in Wales. It depicts two dragons among leaves, fruit and flowers, that are carved with lace-like intricacy. The Church also houses one of the earliest Bibles that was translated into Welsh. Below the church is a well which has become a place of pilgrimage after St. Issui was murdered.
