No Hill Too High

Nevis becoming a slippery slope

Ben Nevis, Britain's highest peak, is being blighted by discarded banana skins, conservationists said. Fruit peel accounts for more than half the rubbish collected from the Highland mountain, with up to 1000 skins on the summit at any time according to the John Muir Trust.  Hill walkers have been urged to take the rubbish away with them as in cold temperatures the peel can take up to two years to biodegrade.
